Reflections on Online Learning and Online Teams
My online score for the Online Learning Readiness Assessment Feedback was “above 45!” Yay! Then I deviled into the topics of working in teams and this is where I got very apprehensive. Working in teams is not really my thing. I either become the leader of the group or the sucker that does everyone else’s work. So it seems I need to develop some personal skills. This article will feature the personal skills that I would like to improve upon and try.
Some of the things that Dr. Haycock talked about are things I need to implement in my current working environment and my next teamwork endeavor. Some of them are: learning about my own weaknesses and strengths, implementing group rules when I work on teams, figure out roles and responsibilities and set clear what is expected (the goal) for the team. These are just a few things that I found helpful in Dr. Haycocks talk.
Enid Irwin also gave some helpful tips on how to build my skills when working in a team. He said attitude was very important when you work in a team environment. Most of the teams I am in are hostile and there are a lot of backstabbing. However, Irwin goes on to say that proper planning goes a long way to making the team a more cohesive. According to him, teamwork success is based upon those two things: attitude and planning. Two things that I must work on.
